Risk potential

The consequences of failing to maintain periodontal health can be much greater than losing a tooth. Poor periodontal health can result in life-threatening risks. Pathogens that can enter the bloodstream as a result of gum disease are now linked to a 200% to 300% higher risk of heart attack and stroke, and a 300% greater diabetes mortality risk, and can increase the risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes, atherosclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, aspiration pneumonia, stroke, certain types of cancer and Alzheimer’s disease. This increases the importance of periodontal health care and the value of Perioscan®.

Charting a path

Personal “weight scales'' and “diet” are familiar tools commonly used by people to manage their weight and improve their personal health. The scales are the means to monitor weight, and diet provides the means of change. Dental practitioners and Perioscan® provide a similar resource set for patients to manage their periodontal health. Perioscan® provides monitoring and information charting for patients to visualize their status and progress, and practitioner recommended therapies, prescriptions, etc., are the tools to rebalance periodontal health.

Hard to believe

With all the world’s technological advancements, it's hard to believe that manual probes with a steel pick are still the industry standard for periodontal exams. Unfortunately, manual periodontal exam probing is yet another source of pain and anxiety for dental patients. Dental patients will welcome manual periodontal exam probes being replaced with Perioscan’s® soft, comfortable, fast procedures. And, whenever practitioners can provide their patients with another reason to smile... everyone wins.
